Andrew Gomez, MD
Dr. Andrew Gomez isn’t your typical physician—he’s a mechanical engineer turned sports medicine doctor with a knack for innovation and a deep passion for helping people move and feel their best.
After earning his Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Arizona—where he completed a senior design project studying plasma actuators and their effects on lift in unmanned aerial vehicles—Dr. Gomez began his career at Aker Kvaerner sharpening his analytical skill set. Eventually, his curiosity about human performance and drive to make a more personal impact led him to pivot into medicine. He earned his MD from Columbia University’s prestigious College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he was part of the inaugural Columbia-Bassett cohort.
Dr. Gomez completed his residency at the University of Washington, followed by a fellowship in sports medicine at Swedish Spine, Sports & Musculoskeletal Medicine, where he trained under leaders like Dr. Adam Pourcho. He holds certifications from the American Board of Family Medicine in both Family Medicine and Sports Medicine, and has earned additional designations, including CAQSM (Certificate of Added Qualifications in Sports Medicine) and RMSK (Registered in Musculoskeletal Sonography).
After five fulfilling years treating patients at Providence-Swedish, Dr. Gomez founded his own practice, integrating his engineering background, evidence-based care, and a patient-first approach to help people move confidently, live actively, and embrace heart-healthier lives. He sees patients of all ages—from pediatric and teen athletes to adults and weekend warriors—and takes pride in demystifying complex diagnoses through clear communication and collaborative care.
Dr. Gomez is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). His work has been recognized with the AMSSM Research Scholar Award and honors from the North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG) and Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors (AFMRD) for scholarly contributions.
He has authored several publications, including:
- Evaluation and Management of Athletes with Long QT Syndrome
- Adventure and Extreme Sports
- Baseball and Softball – In On and Off-Field: Advanced Management of Fractures, Dislocations, and Sports-Related Trauma
